Polaroid TLU 51943WU LCD TV Review

Polaroid has always been famous for their amazing cameras and now beyond that, they have been focusing on a variety of budget priced consumer electronics products including Home Theatres, DVD players and now LCD TVs.  It is a relatively new entrant to the TV segment and occupies a reasonable share of the market worldwide. Perhaps, the main reason for this is that the company has focused on the price conscious user and has struck a chord with many. It now manufactures all sorts of TVs including portable and CRT. But the trend today is going to flat LCDs and Plasma. So, we can safely say that Polaroid fits in the budget brand category, but for that one need to sacrifice quality and a host of features .When it comes to features, Sony and Samsung are way ahead and Polaroid will have to learn a lot from them.

Polaroid has recently launched the Polaroid TLU-51943WU a small set TV with great picture quality thanks to DLTi and DCTi technology that brings true to life and high definition images.  Polaroid claims that its 5ms response time makes viewing action scenes a sheer pleasure.  Read the review to find out if it is really worth all the money.

Polaroid TLU-51943WU LCD TV

Design:

Budget TVs are often designed ergonomically to cut down costs. Not many budget TVs in the market can even claim to be stylishly designed. Adding to that is the fact that the foray into LCD TVs is new for Polaroid and hence we were a bit skeptical about the design. Housed in a plain white case and with the speaker beneath, this model is sleek and stylish. Underneath the Display is the speaker and just beside the speaker is the power LED. The TLU 51943WU LCD TV model is Vesa compatible which means you can mount the TV on your wall and hence is great, especially if you would want a television in your bedroom. On the right side of the TV are present the large power button, the smaller menu button and the ‘+’ and ‘-’ buttons.

Ports:

The left side of the Polaroid TLU-51943WU 19″ Widescreen LCD TV sports the audio/video ports and a USB port. Apart from that, on the back of the device are present a HDMI port, a VGA (D-Sub) port and a CI Slot.

Remote Control:

The TLU 51943WU HD Ready LCD Television has a versatile remote control that has easy access buttons with one touch control. There are the usual buttons present, the power button at the top and the usual buttons to change your channels and volume.  At about 8 inches, the remote is bulky and yet it has a durable feel to it. It makes initial setup and fine tuning adjustments easy compared to trying them out on the television itself.

Setup and Installation:

Like most LCD TVs in the market these days, the Polaroid TLU-51943WU has a reasonable easy set up. In fact to start watching TV, all you need do to is to plug in the TV to a power source. The Integrated Digital Tuner will automatically detect channels and un-complicates things.

Features:

As expected, the Polaroid is not loaded with features. Nevertheless, there are the standard useful features such as Small picture mode, Good resolution and Integrated Digital tuner

Integrated Digital Tuner:

The TV has an Integrated Digital tuner which means that you would no longer need a set top box for converting the TV signals as the device itself would convert the signals. Digital signals offered have are clearer than the outdated analogue signals and also the tuner means you can get a wide spectrum of channels.  Also note that, if you are in the UK, Analog signal tuners will be off and all signal will turn digital in 2012. Hence, if you want to switch without any hassle, try out a TV with a digital tuner.

High Resolution:

The TLU 51943WU LCD TV is a HD ready 1080i screen with a 16:9 ratio and a contrast ratio of 800:1 . Wait, did we forget to mention that the TV has a resolution of 1440 x 900 ? HD 1080i enables one to enjoy the high definition brilliance when connected to a HD source. For maximum realism, there is the 1080i picture which takes movie viewing to a whole new level. Features such as the Digital Colour Transient Improvement, Digital Luminance Transition improvement enhance the already good picture quality.

Other Features:

The Polaroid LCD TV has a response time of just 5ms which means you can watch super fast action screens without the usual haziness and with crystal clarity. There is the Digital noise reduction feature which reduces irregularities in the audio and compresses them to minimize them.

Performance:

When tested for video after lowering the colour to a balanced level and reducing sharpness, we saw fairly decent images with reasonable detail. The blacks were not as deep as they could be, but this is a budget TV we are talking about. But nevertheless, the content had high definition and picture quality was good. When used as a PC monitor, we noticed that the wide screen image cannot be used. Let’s hope Polaroid rectifies it.  The stereo speakers were pretty decent as the Audio leveling was being done appropriately.

Low power consumption:

The Polaroid LCD TV TLU-51943WU has a brightness of just 300cd/m which means lower consumption than the average CRT TVs. The TV has the Energy Star rating and hence we can safely assume that the TV is efficient and would save not only energy but also money.

Warranty:

Polaroid offers its TLU-51943WU LCD TV one year limited warranty.

Verdict:

Despite Polaroid’s inexperience in the LCD segment, they have managed to release a decent product. Like most other 19 inch LCD TVs in the budget category, the Polaroid TLU-51943WU has features like 1080p resolution, Scaling up DVD content etc. However, there have been innumerable reports questioning the quality of the TV as there have been complaints of the video crashing within months of purchasing the TV. Polaroid should work on improving its Customer service and try including better features and maybe then it would strike gold.

Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500 LCD Television

Sony is one of the most famous and the most successful stalwarts of electronic goods in the world. Of its innumerable products, the most famous and the most used are its range televisions. Of late, Sony has been producing televisions that are world-beating.  As a part of revolution, even the televisions have changed the way they look and perform. The most effective of those are the LCD TVs, and the best of them are the ones manufactured by Sony.

Sony has released its latest LCD TV, the Sony Bravia KDL, mainly for the purpose of movies and gaming. Bravia stands for ‘Best Resolution Audio Visual Integrated Architecture’. This is considered as one of the best LCD TVs in the market, with Samsung and LG being the other serious contenders. To over score these two, Sony has included many new features in its latest product, keeping in mind its misfires in the past.

Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500 40 inch LCD TV

Design:

Sony not at its best:
The design of the Bravia is not as attractive as expected from Sony, mainly due to its sharp corners. Its design is good but certainly not as eye-catching as those of LG and Samsung. Its 40 inch screen is large enough to give a theatrical experience to the viewers. Its dimensions being (W x H x D) 987 x 686 x 303 mm and weighing just 20.5 kg, the TV looks very sleek. It is so designed, that it occupies very little space and it can, if necessary, be hung to the wall as well. All the buttons are to the side of it and it is neatly tailored and hence looks very neat.

HD Display:
With a superb High Definition detail and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, the Bravia KDL-40W5500 is a great player for movies and especially games. Its LCD screen with an S-IPS type panel gives you stunning pictures. The screen is also not a reflective type and hence no reflections appear on the screen, which gives you an optimum display quality.

Features:

Sony has introduced a few additional features in the Bravia KDL40W5500 to make it more valuable.

100MHz Processing Engine:
The best of them is the Motionflow system, which is the name given by Sony to its 100 MHz engine, which also has an Image Blur Reduction Technology. With this system, the pictures are more lucid and are also sharper than ever, even for fast moving objects. This feature minimises the side effects during play and it alters the newly calculated frames for better visual experience. With these technologies, the fast- moving objects or images, like action movies or sports and others, can be viewed without any blur or any other problem. Also, pictures are vibrant with good depth and clarity, and high contrast with the Bravia Engine 3.

AppliCast:
The AppliCast software is another feature that you will find very useful in the Sony Bravia. When the AppliCast option is on, then it gives you all the details of the movies and the music files while they are being played. A brief data of the movie or the song is displayed on the screen. The AppliCast gets the information from the internet. So, to make use of this option, you must connect to the internet.

Options available for the tweakers:
Another feature of  Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500 40 inch LCD TV is that there is an adjustable option for Standard and MPEG noise reduction. Other options include the gamma correction to give you good colour contrast, a black correction option to sharpen the darken images, Clear White processing and Sony Live Colour System, which help in boosting the colour response of the images. You have four options to choose from. They are High, Mid, Low and off, and are used to adjust colour clarity and picture vividness. The Bravia features can be done with the built- in software, known as the DLNA enabled PC, which can store a few movies and music files and plays them whenever required. There are a variety of options like the Eco settings and the Light sensor that can automatically adjust the brightness of the TV.

Additional Features:
The 24p True Cinema feature in KDL-40W5500 enables you to watch the movies with excellent picture quality and without any blur. The Intelligent Picture feature enabled in the TV gives you crisp images even when you are playing with an analogue signal. Another excellent feature is that when you are not watching the TV, you can turn on the Picture Frame mode, to turn the TV into a photo frame and you can have your pictures displayed on it just like a photo frame. This is a very unique feature of its kind. With the Voice Zoom feature, you can always change the volume of voices with actually changing the background volume. The USB Media Player feature allows you an easy access to your photos, music and videos. The DLNA Ethernet port helps you sync the TV with your PC. This is a very appreciable feature.

Many of these features are unique and are very useful. They are certainly helpful in sufficing all your needs and all of these make a perfect high end TV.

Performance of KDL40W5500:

When it comes to performance, the Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500 Full HD LCD Television deserves full marks. With all the features discussed above, it gives you an excellent performance and very few problems.

Picture Quality:
The 40 inch screen is big enough to turn your TV into a home theatre. The picture quality is excellent and the depth, the details and the colour of the pictures are outstanding. Even the high definition pictures and movies are played with stunning quality and you can least expect a blur while playing your favourites. Even if there is an analogue connection, there is no need to worry at all, as there is Intelligent Picture. The Dynamic Contrast Ratio of the Bravia KDL-40W5500 is 100000:1, which gives you a very good picture clarity and great contrast.

HDMI Cables:
The four HDMI cable connections are very useful and with these, you can get the pictures with the highest quality possible. With the help of these cables you can connect your TV to any high definition devices such as a Blu-Ray Disc and the Playstation3. Hence, you can also play games with these digital cable connections.

Experience of games:
The MPEG Noise Reduction enhances the performance of the surround sound as it reduces the noise and gives out the optimum output. With its HD sharpness, it gives you wonderful footage, be it from your Blu-Ray Discs for Microsoft Xbox 360 games or be it a Cricket match from the cable TV network. Everything looks very dynamic on you TV and most importantly without noise or blurring. Its response time has been very good.

Picture in Picture:
The picture in picture facility allows you to have a great experience of watching multiple channels at the same time. So, you can, at a single point in time, watch both the news and a movie. Even while performing this task, there are no considerable problems and the output is pretty smooth.

Sound:
The Bravia has only two front speakers on the front. The sound quality is a bit low considering the expectations from Sony. This is because, even though the treble and the mid range sounds are picked up well by its speakers, its ability to pick up the bass sounds is on the lower side. This is not uncommon with the flat LCD TVs since they do not have enough depth to provide a good audio system. But the presence of Dolby Digital makes it fine for movie watching. You can experience digital surround sound effect with these speakers and also the S-Force technology for front surround sound. There is also a sound booster technology to enhance the sound performance. Even then if you need a better sound output, then you can always connect the analogue stereo and the digital optical outputs to any external speakers.

Networking:
With the DLNA home networking technology, you can connect your TV to your computer and then play pictures, music and movies. With the integrated Standard Definition Digital Terrestrial tuner, you can watch high definition pictures on the digital TV. With this, you can easily receive Digital Terrestrial TV channels and Radio channels. Sony also allows you to watch Cable TV with the help of a digital cable tuner. But this feature is subject to country and also only with the supported operators.

Sony Bravia KDL40W5500 Rear view

Power Consumption:

The Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500 is an energy efficient TV and hence consumes minimum power. Its power consumption is about 110 watts in the normal mode and just 60 watts in the power saver mode. It is a very low consumption rate for a TV. You can avail this opportunity to save some bugs by just depressing the Energy Saver button. After you do this, the light sensor in the TV senses the intensity of the light outside and then cuts down the power consumption. You can also turn off the monitor while listening to the radio, and hence reduce the power consumption.

Warranty:

Sony offers a warranty for about 1 year from the date of purchase. You can extend the period by registering on the Sony’s website.

Conclusion:

The Sony Bravia KDL is an excellent LCD TV series and is considered as the best one in the market for gaming purpose. Its price is also a reasonable one when compared to the others. Its design may not be the best and its rugged looks only attract men and particularly the youth. An average customer would rather want a curve- edged TV, which looks more dynamic. But there are many other things in it that make it very valuable. The features discussed above, add immense value to the Bravia, as there are many of them that are very unique and most importantly, very useful. The best ones are that of the Internet connection and the Ethernet port for streaming music and movies. However great the features are, at the end of the day, all that counts is the performance and Sony Bravia is second to none, when it comes to performance. The picture delivery is fantastic with all the options to customise the way you want your TV to perform.  It is particularly the best one for the gamers who use Wii, Microsoft Xbox and Playstation3. Sony itself agrees that the audio output is not up to the mark and it can be considered as an average audio output. This is true but Sony has made this up by producing an excellent picture quality. It has also managed quite well to maintain the balance between the price, features, performance and usability.

Verdict:

No TV is perfect and every TV has its own drawbacks. But when it comes to the Sony Bravia, these drawbacks are very few in number. So, considering everything that is discussed above, the Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500 is an excellent and affordable choice that makes your living room really lively.

Toshiba 19DV615DB HD LCD TV with DVD Player

Toshiba is already a well established player in the LCD Television segment. However, they lag behind market players Sony and LG, and as a bid to gain a greater share, Toshiba has stepped into another important segment- Combo LCD Televisions bundled with an in-built DVD Player. It has recently launched the Toshiba 19DV615DB. This new model is an HD ready Combi LCD – DVD television combining superb picture processing performance and elegant contemporary styling with the added bonus of an integrated DVD player, and the TV is especially designed for the families who are looking for a second television in the house.  Why buy a separate DVD player, when you can get a combi LCD- DVD at the same price?

Design:

The Toshiba 19DV615DB is elegantly designed and comes with a shiny sleek black finish and good set of speakers. Perfect for a student dorm or a lounge, the contemporary black border gives it a classy look. The Diagonal size of the screen is 19 inches and TFT Active Matrix is used. It comes with a resolution of 1400×900 pixels and an image aspect ratio of 16:9. The brightness of 300cd/m2 enhances the picture quality. On the left side of the Television is the DVD Drive. Right under it are present the eject button, the volume and the channel buttons. The “^” channel button and its counterpart also function as the play and stop buttons respectively.  There are separate buttons for Menu and the Input/Enter button. The largest amongst all the buttons; the power button is present at the bottom and is an eye-grabber. The TV is placed on a sleek and portable stand. The Toshiba 19DV615DB, like all of its standard 19″  counterparts has a HDMI port on the rear.

Setup and Installation of 19DV615DB:

Installation of this Toshiba 19DV615DB  LCD TV and DVD combo is very simple. All you need to do is plug it to a power source and it will auto tune itself when connected to an aerial. The Digital tuner will enable you to access a lot of Digital TV channels including the FreeView ones. Using auto-setup, you get to tune all channels in just matter of minutes.  Impressive!

Toshiba 19DV615DB LCD TV with DVD Player

Features:

In-built DVD player and FreeView:
Simple to use and less clutter, this is perfect for movie nights. The digital tuner allows you to watch all those digital channels as well. The built in slot loading DVD player with easy access buttons makes it a convenient all in one space saving design. This DVD player is capable of playing DivX, JPEG and Mp3 files. Perhaps the best part is that, its design makes it look good anywhere- be it the bedroom or the drawing room. The DVD Player managed to do well and is definitely amongst the better features of this model.

Built-in digital tuner:
By 2012, Analog signal tuners will be off the radar and TV signals will turn digital. Digital TV provides access to a host of additional features and services which will enhance your TV watching experience. Older Analogue televisions will not be able to pickup if Digital switch happens in your area. To keep your normal TV Service running, you will have to convert to digital. The Toshiba 19DV615DB HD Ready LCD Television works on the digital signal and hence is good enough if you already have a TV and want to upgrade your older analog TV to digital.

HDMI:
The Highest possible screen resolution available today is the 1080p which provides amazing picture quality. The Toshiba 19DV615DB 19 inch LCD TV model allows you to enjoy high-def pictures and great sound quality and great sound quality to complement it.  There are some occasional jerks here and there, but nevertheless the picture quality is good. The XDE600 upscaling DVD player does a reasonably good job in upscaling the content to high definition.

Performance:

Video:
The Video performance is extremely impressive, the whites are purer and the colours pack a punch. The colours are well reproduced and the picture detail is good. However, we have to accept the fact that there are better models than this in the market. Movies when played usually come along with a small amount of instability as well.

Audio:
The sound is not as loud as it could have been. That problem could be solved by connecting it to an amplifier. The speakers are pretty decent and are lovely for some soft music. However, there have been many complaints of crashing of the sound output.

Power Efficient:

When compared to other models in the 19″ LCD Television segment, the television uses very little amount of energy. Just 65 watts, making it a highly power efficient television.

Warranty:

The Toshiba 19DV615DB widescreen tv is provided with a warranty of one year from the date of purchase.

Verdict:

The Toshiba 19DV615DB LCD TV DVD Player combo is a great choice for a second TV in the house. Its slim and sleek design, decent speakers, HDMI quality video and the integrated DVD Player makes it a worthy player in the market. However, there have been complaints of sound output crashes and frequent switching off of the television set. If you want a no-frills second TV, this is the best bet – as long as it would not face the fore-mentioned problems.

LG 22LH2000 22 inch HD Ready LCD TV

22LH2000 - 22 inch HD Ready Widescreen LCD Television from LG

LG had launched about seven new LCD TVs in the year 2009. The LH range has series from the lower end 2000 to the right up to LH9500. The LH2000 range is an LCD TV, whereas the top end LH9500 is an LED backlit TV running at about 200Hz. Here, we will be reviewing the 22″ LG 22LH2000 LCD TV.

Pretty much all the LCD TVs of LG seems to have a bargain written all over it and so, it comes in as no surprise to find that the 22” 22LH2000 LCD TV features HD ready, HDMI, FreeView and Clear voice 2 Technology at such a budget price tag. If it proves to have tip top performance too, we are to have a genuine classic bedroom or kitchen television set too.

LG 22LH2000 22 inch HD Ready LCD TV

Startling design:

Any bargain hunter looking to get the absolute maximum bang for their cash will probably be drawn to the LG 22LH2000 like a moth to a flame. To begin with, it has been designed elegantly for its price point, with a gleaming finish, subtle curves and a seductively minimalistic aesthetic. You will not find any buttons on the thin black bezel of the TV except for the power LED, which glows blue when the TV is switched on and red when in the stand-by mode. For a moment you would even think that the TV does not possess even speakers until you find out that it is just invisible.

Abundant connectivity:

Turning our attention from the bold front of the LG 22LH2000 television set to its rear, we were absolutely delighted to find that this LG 22″ wonder does not skimp on the connections either as it offers a HDMI port, a USB port, Full scart, Half scart, LAN, PC audio input, optical and coaxial Digital Audio Out and Component in. But do not get highly excited about the USB port, as it turns out to be only for the support and service upgrades, rather than allowing you to play your photo and music files into the TV.

User friendly GUI:

There is more good news when it comes to the onscreen menus of the LG 22LH2000 HD Ready LCD TV, as it employs the same bold and graphics heavy approach that is found on the premium models of LG and as a result, this is one of the easiest to use television sets we have ever come across. This is despite the fact that the menu actually has a reasonably large roster of features. For aspect ratio correction, you are given eight options that include 16:9, Just Scan, Original, 4:3, 14:9, Zoom, Cinema Zoom and Full wide. In the AV mode, you are offered with the usual options of Cinema, Game and Sport and for the sound status too, the standard options like Standard, Music, Cinema, Game and Sport are available.

Features:

For a 22” LCD TV, the 22LH2000 TV is loaded with features like no other small TV has. The key features of the TV include HD Ready, Freeview, HDMI 3.1 Deep Colour, ISFccc ready and Clear Voice 2 Technology.

High Definition TV:
Being a High Definition TV or a HDTV, the 22LH2000 has a superior quality picture and sound quality than the standard TVs. With this feature, you can get a kind of picture quality that you would see at the cinemas. The LH2000 HDTV brings you closer than ever before to the action by offering you more colours and a higher resolution picture, which is about twice as many horizontal lines. The images are clear, sharp and more lifelike.

FreeView:
As most of you might be aware by now, Freeview is a subscription free service that delivers up to 48 digital TV channels including public favourites like ITV2, E4, BBC3 and Film. Along with the video channels, you also get about 24 additional digital radio stations. The best part about the FreeView feature is that, you get to enjoy all these TV channels and radio frequencies with no contract and satellite dish.

HDMI 1.3 Deep Colour in 22LH2000:
Though HDMI 1.3 Deep Colour has become a very common feature in most of the LCD TVs in the market, we were surprised by its presence in this small 22LH2000 LCD TV. This technology supports 30 bit, 36 bit and 48 bit colour depth. This feature also aids in eliminating the on screen colour banding for the sake of smooth tonal transitions and subtle gradations. HDMI 1.3 enables increased contrast ratio and also represents many times more shades of grey between black and white.

Clear Voice 2 Technology:
The Clear Voice 2 Technology is a latest feature in the market that improves the audio. Sometimes we have noticed that it is hard to hear voices over the background of their environment and this feature adjusts the audio balance to emphasis the voices and reduce the background noise.

Performance:

The XD Engine:
LG 22LH2000 Freeview LCD Television has its dynamic backlight engine that allows it to produce a very respectable claimed contrast ratio of 8000:1 with LG’s solid and ever improving XD Engine multi-facetted video processing engine and even a cinema mode that is devoted to the playback of Blu-ray sources is simply a “Hats off” to LG. There is no100Hz processing and even the most eternal optimist could not have really expected to find that on a 22″ LCD TV.

Brightness and Colour:
LG has always been a winner of hearts with aggressive displays of brightness and colour on its LCD TVs and this potent has been exhibited in the 22LH2000 too, side stepping the familiar dull and muted look of a large number of the mega cheap rivals. It also has enough flexibility in its options in order to allow the images to be left looking punchy without the need for you to tolerate the over aggressive tones or the too little black level response.

Sharpness, Motion Blur and Black levels:
This LH2000 Widescreen Television model also seems to have out-performed its price point with its sharpness and HD pictures. The pictures do not exhibit any kind of motion blurring as we might have expected, despite the lack of any 100Hz processing. Yet another performance feature that needs appreciation is black level response. There is certainly some grey and is less detailed than they are on the higher end TV sets, but they are deep enough to make the day to day images and the predominantly dark scenes are miles more natural looking than the ones in the typical entry level prices. We guarantee that you would enjoy the best quality standard definition with this model.

The negligible negatives:
So, we have very few and negligible negatives about the TV, which includes limited viewing angle and slight judder while watching Blu-ray movies.

LG 22LH2000 LCD Television

Power Efficient:

With so much of awareness programs and international seminars on Global Warming, everybody wants to put their part in saving our mother earth (don’t you? If not, it’s high time you start thinking about it). However, LG is putting its best to preserve energy and that is the reason why it has the most comprehensive selections of IDTVs that are registered to the Energy Saving Trust’s recommended scheme. And to garner a place in this list, the products must meet strict criteria to ensure that they are amongst the most efficient ones in the market place. We are glad to inform you that the 22LH2000 is one such product that saves you up to 20% on power consumption.

Warranty:

LG offers its 22LH2000 one year limited warranty for parts and labour.

Verdict:

The LG 22 inch 22LH2000 LCD TV has great looks, good connectivity, acceptable set of features and a surprising performance. So, it is one of the best bargains that you can ever imagine for your second room TV. If you feel that 22” is small for even your second room, you might as well try the 32” and above versions of the same LH2000 series that have some extra features like LG SimpLink and the LG Core Technologies.

Daewoo DLP42C1 42-inch LCD Television Review

DLP-42C1 - 40″ Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV from Daewoo

Daewoo LCD TV fulfills two of the dreams that everybody ever expects out of an LCD TV. The TV looks as good as a piece of art and also delivers near perfect pictures. Every facet has been considered to match style with performance. The TV is compact, light, multi functional and stylish.
In the following review we will find out how Daewoo’s DLP42C1  42″ Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV fares.

Daewoo DLP42C1 42 inch LCD TV

Decent Design:

Daewoo is not a brand name that you would think of associating with an LCD TV, and honestly speaking, we too were a bit sceptical ourselves when we first unpacked the hefty packaging of the 42″ LCD television. Inside was the TV that lives up to the introduction that we had given. In fact, it was just as good as any other 42″ LCD TV in the market; big, black aside from the silver Daewoo badge in the center, you can easily mistake it for a LCD TV from any other manufacturer. The DLP42C1 comes with a fairly large base stand and an intelligently laid out remote control.

Good set of features:

When it comes to the features, the Daewoo DLP42C1 Widescreen LCD TV has tried its best to offer most of the “goods” in the market. The TV possesses a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels with a claimed 8ms response time. The TV is capable of displaying about 1.08 billion colours. It features an integrated HD tuner with connections for pretty much everything you would expect in a LCD TV of this budget, along with a HDMI socket and two SCART interfaces.

Surprising performance:

Hence, with a decent design and reasonable specifications, we were not expecting too much from the Daewoo’s DLP42C1 42 LCD TV. Truly speaking, the performance of the TV came in as a real pleasant surprise. The TV had a well constructed output and the HD performance was acceptable. We would say that the default setting of the TV is a little bit too garish for most of the movie material, too much of anything is never good. Most of the material is too bright for realism.

Warranty:

Daewoo is so confident with its product that it offers its 42″ DLP42C1 LCD TV a whooping three years warranty for parts and labour.

Verdict:

With a budget asking price, the Daewoo DLP-42C1 HD Ready LCD TV is a real good deal. Though it is not a brand that is best known for LCD TVs, its three year warranty offers good value for money, bringing in another quality competitor to the shelves for the UK consumers, which can only be a good news for anybody wanting a competitively priced LCD TV.
